The Area

Beecroft is a suburban area of Sydney, located in New South Wales, on the North Western Hornsby rail line just north of Epping. Owing to the historic ‘linear expansion’ of Sydney, along the backbone of the commuter railway line on the upper north shore, Beecroft is a well-established residential area of Sydney. It features a number of historical homes and sites nestled in its leafy, well-kept streets.

Description

Whilst Beecroft is a not a large suburb Capital Corporation identified the potential for expanding the existing shopping centre and thus realising a solid return. After employing specific investment strategies, Capital Corporation managed to secure one of only very few long-held sites from the incumbent owners of Beecroft’s retail zoned precinct.

The resulting development project involved the construction of a shopping centre between Wongala Crescent and Beecroft Road with a lower level for undercover parking, shops on various levels, with the design following a sloping gradient linking the two streets. The design is low rise with village-style retail on ground and small commercial office space above.

The construction of the project was hampered by restricted access with only 11m frontage to Wongala Crescent and no access permitted from Beecroft Road.

The project was constructed with reinforced concrete floors, load bearing brickwork, timber trusses and a tile roof.
